Honolulu, HI (AP) If you want to build a digital presence that can appeal to the broadest demographic, you’ll need to take a page from the digital marketing playbook.
For one thing, you have to know your target audience and then figure out how to target them with your digital strategy.
Then you’ll have to do something else that’s also important — engage them in your marketing, and do it well.
That’s why Honolulu digital marketers like Steve O’Brien have had to spend years developing a comprehensive digital strategy that includes everything from landing pages to email and social media marketing.
The Honolulu Digital Marketing Association’s 2017 annual meeting was held at the Hilton Garden Inn.
O’Brian is one of about 20 Honolulu-area digital marketers who came to the event, including Craig Cagle, a digital marketing consultant who’s been marketing Hawaii for 10 years.
Cagle says he’s not sure if Hawaii’s digital market is ready to compete with the national market.
But the Hawaii market is the second largest, he said, and has been growing steadily in recent years.
The state has seen a rapid increase in its number of jobs in digital, including hiring for those positions in the last couple of years.
And in 2017, Hawaii became the first state to open its digital market to the public, allowing anyone to participate in the market’s growing ecosystem.
O’Brien, who founded a company that helps companies connect with their digital marketing customers, believes Hawaii can succeed in its digital marketing battle against the national and international markets.
“It’s going to be hard to do the same thing as a national brand, but I think we’re up to the challenge,” he said.
“I think we’ve got a good chance.
I think the state has got a lot of experience and expertise.
Hawaii is the perfect place to be.”
The Hawaii Digital Marketing Industry Association, which includes O’Briens company, Hawaii Digital Solutions, has about 2,300 members and is the country’s largest digital marketing association.
The association’s president, Chris Lutz, is the founder of the Hawaii Digital Communications Association, a group of digital marketing experts.
The association also has about 30 members.
The group is in the process of drafting a digital strategy, which Lutz said will include everything from building a website to a mobile app, and is looking at whether it should be a national or state-based industry.
The group will also study the viability of a digital marketplace, which could include local and regional vendors.
The Hawaii group also has a Digital Marketing Strategy Advisory Committee, which is composed of members of the digital market, business leaders and others.
Lutz says he hopes to see the committee develop a digital strategies for each state and region.
Lutz said the Hawaii group wants to create an industry-wide, industry-friendly digital strategy and encourage local, state and national businesses to follow suit.
He said it’s important to have a holistic approach.
The Hawaii group is not trying to start a national digital market or start a local one.
Rather, it wants to see businesses, vendors and other sectors that are not in the digital space take advantage of the benefits of digital and how to capitalize on them.LUTZ said Hawaii is a perfect market to do business because of the high number of people who are in digital business.
But Hawaii is also a growing market, and we’re going to continue to grow in that market.
